Republican House Speaker Johnson said he pressured Santos to resign today to keep the House from having to vote on a privileged motion to expel him.

Santos has until Thursday to resign if he chooses to do so. If he doesn’t, then the House will move to vote on the privileged motion to expel him.
Resigning would save some face for Santos but it would also keep Republicans from being put in a pickle should they not vote to expel him. We’ll see what he chooses to do.
