Last night Nikki Haley was asked point blank by a voter what caused the United States civil war. It was an odd question for a political town hall, to say the least, and her answer wasn’t all that great either.
See for yourself:
Why would someone ask a question like this in a political town hall? Unless perhaps they were trying to embarass her to keep Trump from considering her as a veep candidate? MAGA apparently isn’t fond of the idea at all.
Trump did leave open the idea yesterday that he’s still considering Haley as a running mate:
JUST IN: Donald Trump is asked again if he would choose Nikki Haley as VP and does not rule it out.
“I actually got along with her very well. As you know, she left at a nice ceremony at the White House — it was very nice. She said terrific things about me.” pic.twitter.com/gQFmrfBhPn

Back to the video at hand. Joe Biden chimed in last night claiming the cause of the civil war was ‘slavery’. He tweeted it as though it were some ‘slam dunk’ answer:
It was about slavery. https://t.co/q9bTDvtPne

But was it? I think the primary reason for the war was southern states seceding, but they were also intrinsically tied to slavery since it was their labor force. I think to say that it’s just about slavery misses the mark, but then I wouldn’t expect much from president alzheimer’s, who probably didn’t even write that tweet.
