Senator Ted Cruz put to rest this morning the claim, which came from this leaked Senate whip count for the next GOP leader, that he is voting for John Thune to replace McConnell.
In fact, he’s not. Ted Cruz pointed out that two years ago he supported Rick Scott against McConnell and he will once again support Scott in his bid to become Senate Leader.
This morning, I’ll be voting for Rick Scott for GOP Leader, as I did two years ago. In 2022, I helped lead the charge for Rick against McConnell & I’m proud to stand with him again.
For 12 yrs, I’ve been unequivocal that we need to change GOP Leadership—and now we finally will.

Jake Sherman just put out his endorsement tracker and thus far it’s looking good for Scott. But that’s because most of the Senate hasn’t endorsed anyone yet. As I’ve said before, while I think Scott is the best of the three to lead the Senate, I don’t expect him to win because he is the more conservative of the bunch. And conservatives never win in McConnell’s Senate.
