The new omnibloat bill pushed by Speaker Johnson in the House would reportedly give Congress members a pay raise. CNN’s Manu Raju caught up with Senator Dick Durbin and asked him about it.

MANU RAJU – Members are giving themselves a pay raise. Do you guys deserve a pay raise?
DICK DURBIN – Well that’s news to me. That’s good news…. I think it’s about time something’s done.
RAJU – You support giving yourselves a pay raise.
DURBIN – Well I don’t know what it is. How would I know about a pay raise?
RAJU – But, I mean, people look at the performance of Congress and say why should we give them more money.
DURBIN – What about the media? Think about that for a second.
RAJU – We’re not paid by public money.
DURBIN – I know you’re not, but half of you listeners are not there anymore and you’re still getting the same paycheck?? What’s going on??
Dayum. While I have zero respect for Durbin because he’s about as corrupt as it gets, I love how he puts Raju in his place. As Johnny Maga puts it, this is “Dems eating themselves alive.”
