MAJOR UPDATE: Speaker Johnson has won on the first round of voting after Ralph Norman and Keith Self changed their votes to Johnson! The vote is now 218-215.

The first round of voting has just ended and Spake Mike Johnson did not win enough votes to continue on as Speaker. The House will need to go to a second round of voting and another contender could be chosen.

It’s my understanding that the House will proceed directly into a second vote…

 
UPDATE: They are calling the names of those Republicans who didn’t vote and some still aren’t voting…

 
UPDATE 2: Chip Roy does vote for Johnson after not voting in the first call of the first round… Gosar voted for Johnson and Clyde voted Johnson. The vote is currently 216-215.

 
UPDATE 3: The House is going directly into a second vote…

 
UPDATE 4: Johnson leaves the floor, so it doesn’t appear they are moving all that quickly…

 
UPDATE 5: Johnson huddled with Ralph Norman and Keith Self after returning to the floor:

 
UPDATE 6: Both Norman and Self are talking to the clerk to perhaps change their vote…
