Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced today the official end to USAID’s foreign assistance programs and coined a new MAGA-inspired acronym in the process: MFAGA. Yeah, don’t try and pronounce that.
Rubio posted this morning that “the era of government-sanctioned inefficiency is OVER,” adding that foreign aid will now be accountable to the American taxpayer.
Here’s what he wrote:
The era of government-sanctioned inefficiency is OVER.
From now on, our foreign assistance programs will be accountable to the American taxpayer.https://t.co/6P38AwUzVO pic.twitter.com/qXQA2TataT

Here’s the all important blurb from their substack announcement:
This era of government-sanctioned inefficiency has officially come to an end. Under the Trump Administration, we will finally have a foreign funding mission in America that prioritizes our national interests. As of July 1st, USAID will officially cease to implement foreign assistance. Foreign assistance programs that align with administration policies—and which advance American interests—will be administered by the State Department, where they will be delivered with more accountability, strategy, and efficiency.
This is a huge accomplishment for the Trump administration and DOGE, shutting down USAID’s endless spending spree of taxpayer dollars to terrorists and American enemies around the world.
I would just say to Rubio, don’t forget to make sure Democrats and the DNC don’t see a dime of this USAID money either. It all needs to end. I’m pretty sure it has, but just putting this out there.
