Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested tonight on Fox Business that the meeting between President Trump and President Putin is not set in stone, saying there’s a lot of work to be done before that happens.

Rubio added in another part of the interview that they now “have a sense now of what conditions the Russians would require in order to end the war”, but that doesn’t mean Ukraine and even their European allies will sign off on it.
I think Rubio’s analysis was more somber and cautious than what I read from Trump today, and it makes me wonder if in fact they’ll get to the point where Trump can come in and make a deal to end the war.
