Earlier today both DC police and federal agents arrested an illegal alien at the National Mall. A reporter filmed it and said the illegal was shouting his innocence as he was being pinned to the ground, after trying to flee.
Here’s that video:
The reporter, from NBC Washington, wrote “BREAKING: Just saw DC Police + federal agents detain a man on the National Mall. He appeared to try to escape, then was quickly tackled to the ground by several agents + was screaming in Spanish “please, I’m not a criminal, I work here, I want to be with my family””
She said she asked officials why he was being arrested but they didn’t answer.
Now we know why, and it turns out this was a terrible criminal illegal:
NEW: DHS says the man in this video who tried to flee from federal agents in DC before being tackled & screaming that he’s not a criminal is an illegal alien from Mexico who was arrested in January 2024 for aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 13. https://t.co/2AU4hTVBD2

Aimee Cho, the reporter above, added a bit more:
Another update: Fairfax County court records show the charges were later dropped (nolle prosequi.) I have reached out to the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for comment but haven’t yet heard back. An ICE spokesperson tells me: “Prosecutors refuse to prosecute.” pic.twitter.com/VQt2SWr4Mj

In other words, it sounds like they let him off the hook last year. Of course. Now we know why he wanted to escape because he ain’t getting off the hook now.
