The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect involved in today’s deputy-involved shooting
On November 2, 2025, at 2:04 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic violence call in Brandon where a 7-year-old child was being choked by an armed suspect. When deputies arrived, Mario Camacho, 27, had barricaded himself and the child inside a bedroom. Deputies heard the child screaming for help and forced entry, confronting Camacho. After repeated commands were ignored, a deputy shot the suspect, rescuing the child.
What a hero and a great shot. I know it was close range, but I’m glad he didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger and save the child.
