President Trump has created a lot of anger online by saying companies needs to bring in talent from overseas using H1B visas because that specific talent is no longer here in America.
Scott Jennings was being asked about this last night by a Democrat on CNN, who suggested that Trump had put people like him in a difficult position.
But Jennings, after countering her lie about Argentina, made a great point about Trump’s position on the H1B visa program:
He’s absolutely right about the coalition. And he’s right that President Trump did just put a massive fee on the H1B visa of $100k for each person a company wants to bring into the US to do a specific job. That forces them to look here first to find the talent, and it keeps them from just importing a ton of people to do the work Americans could do.
This actually comports with what Bessent said this morning about H1B visas being used to bring in people to train Americans to do the work.
