GOOD – Mike Lee calls out Chuck Scumer for LYING about the SAVE Act and here’s why…

Senator Mike Lee is calling out the Democratic Senate leader Chuck Schumer for lying about the SAVE America Act.

Schumer wrote this yesterday, claiming that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is lying about it:

All @PressSec does is lie and gaslight.

The SAVE Act requires a paper birth certificate or passport to register to vote. Almost 50% of Americans don’t have a passport. Millions more don’t have their paper birth certificate. All told, more than 21 million Americans could be disenfranchised.

This is why the SAVE Act is dead on arrival in the Senate. Do not listen to the Republican lies. Senate Democrats will continue to fight for the right to vote for all eligible American citizens.

But Lee tweeted this morning that what Schumer said is patently false, and provides the bill as proof:

Okay fine, I read it. And best I can tell, the only time you’d need a paper birth certificate is if you have an official federal, state or tribal government ID that doesn’t show “the applicant’s place of birth was in the United States.” And even then, there are other options than having to get a paper birth certificate.

But the bottom line is that if you have a valid photo ID that shows you were born in the United States, which I think everyone should have, you are golden.
And if you are a naturalized citizen, then you must show proof of that as well, which I think anyone who has been naturalized would have ready to show.

So there’s no big deal about this and Chuck Schumer is clearly lying, because as Mike Lee has said, Schumer hasn’t read it because if he did read it, he’d have to tell the truth about it, and that wouldn’t help his side.
