Senate Leader Thune admitted that Democrats may nuke the filibuster if they get power again in the Senate, explaining why he can’t do it himself.
Here’s what he said:
The founders may have designed the Senate with a super majority threshold, however they also designed the Senate to be FOR the states. Meaning, each state legislator would choose two Senators to go and represent the state in the US Senate. It wasn’t a popular vote for Senators like it is today, and if it were still the old way, a super majority would be no problem for Republicans.
