Earlier today Trump wrote: “Israel will not be bombing Lebanon any longer. They are PROHIBITED from doing so by the U.S.A. Enough is enough!!!”
This didn’t sit well with the IDF, and now the Trump administration has clarified what Trump meant in his post:
After Israel was unhappy by Trump’s public statement that the IDF is no longer allowed to attack Lebanon, the Trump administration issued a clarification.
Israel can strike targets for self-defense, and there are no restrictions on how self-defense can be defined.
An American official clarifies Trump’s comments on Lebanon: “The ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, signed by the President, clearly states that Israel will not conduct any offensive military operations against Lebanese targets, but retains its right to self-defense against planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks.”

I’ve seen this elsewhere, so it is accurate. So if Hezbollah strikes, Israel can and should retaliate. This makes much more sense.
