Marc Thiessen explained today what he believes Iran sees in the US after shots against the UAE and the US, and it amounts to a ton of weakness from Trump.
Here’s what he writes:
Here’s what Iran sees: After being warned not to, they hit UAE and fired on a US ship – and we didn’t respond. Instead we suspended the SoH mission. They take that as weakness. They don’t think Trump is willing to bomb them again. They think they have leverage. He needs to prove them wrong.

This makes sense, but it’s crazy for Iran to think that Trump won’t bomb them again when he just crushed so much of their country. It just shows their deviousness and arrogance – and also they are probably getting much of this attitude from Democrats who are back-channeling with Iran to tell them how to beat Trump.
It is true, however, if Trump doesn’t get a deal soon that he needs to follow through with this threat to bomb them. This threat has been lingering now for quite a while, with no action taken on it. At some point Trump’s going to realize Iran is playing him for a fool and he needs to lay siege to the regime. If he doesn’t, regardless of what he’s done in Iran so far, it will be seen as a defeat.
But yes, I do think he will bomb them because I don’t think he’s weak.
