The Democrat candidate for the US Senate from Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, defended abolishing ICE on Fox News today, claiming that immigration law is ‘civil law’ and we don’t need a ‘para-military force’ enforcing civil law.

It is true that immigration law is generally civil law, however there’s a big caveat to this. Immigration law has criminal law inside of it, namely entering the US illegally. That is a federal crime which has a consequence of prison time. Re-entering the country illegally after deportation is a major federal crime, which carries with it up to 20 years in prison.
So, just like the serpent in the Garden of Eden, Democrats like El-Sayed give only half-truths when making their arguments, so they can twist the truth to fit their needs and corrupt the voters of Michigan.
