President Trump just announced that he’ll be hitting Iran very hard tonight, just as he said he would. But he’s not stopping there, adding that at some point soon he’ll be taking Kharg Island as well.
Here’s what he said:
The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT. At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
Whoa. That is quite the plan. I do think taking Kharg Island has quite a bit to do with controlling the Strait of Hormuz as well. But the big question is will taking it require troops on the ground? And in doing so, it sounds like this plan will keep us there for a long time instead of us pummeling Iran and leaving. I’ve always said that we would have to have a NATO force in the Strait to prevent Iran from tolling and controlling it, so I never thought we’d leave the water ways. But I also didn’t think we’d be taking the island.
I look forward to hearing more from Trump on this…assuming he’ll provide those details.
