President Trump just announced he’ll be taking off the US sanctions on Turkey, saying it’s time to do that and explains why.
Watch:
According to Grok, the key sanctions in place on Turkey are:
- Ban on US export licenses and authorizations for goods/technology to the SSB.
- Asset freezes and visa restrictions on designated SSB officials.
- Restrictions on US financial institutions providing loans/credits to the SSB.
- Broader impacts: Turkey remains excluded from the F-35 program (it was removed as a partner), and the sanctions hinder defense procurement (e.g., spare parts for F-16s).
It’s the last sanction, with Trump allowing the Islamist dictator back into the F-35 program, that worries so many. And it should. Erdogan has made clear he wants to recreate the Ottoman Empire and annihilate Israel, but Trump seems to ignore all of that because Erdogan has been his friend or something.
Trump dismissed Erdogan’s hatred of Israel while discussing all of this:
Mark Levin writes that this is a mistake:
Sorry, Erdogan is not our friend. He’s a vicious tyrant. He has very evil ambitions. Erdogan plays our country off with Russia’s Putin. The administration will do what it’ll do. But it’s a mistake.

It’s absolutely a mistake to allow such technology into the hands of Sultan Erdogan, and one day the world will see why.
