Each year, Sheriffs from around the state gathered at the Oklahoma State Capitol building to “meet and greet” politicians and discuss issues that are important to them. This year, something new happened, as Sheriff Bob Colbert discusses here with KTUL in Tulsa.

An unidentified state legislator demanded that the Sheriffs either disarm or depart. “So we all packed up and left,” said Colbert.
Colbert points out that the lawmaker probably has better things to do than disarming law enforcement, saying “if the state troopers are satisfied that we’re ok in that building I’m pretty sure that the legislators should have something else to worry about such as the economy or something.”

Gun owners have been and are currently being portrayed as threats to this security and the sheriffs of the nation are the first line of defense when it comes to defending the constitutional rights of the people. Eliminate the county sheriff and all could be lost. It is imperative we educate all who would listen on the need to support the county sheriffs and ensure we are electing men who know their constitutional responsibilities. Clearly, judging by the actions of Oklahoma’s county sheriffs, they know these responsibilities well, which is probably why they were treated in the manner they were at the state capital (sic).
