Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax that believes what Derek Chauvin did to George Floyd was morally inexcusable, but also believes the case should be reversed on appeal and explains why below:

Here’s what Dershowitz said:
Well first, what was done to George Floyd by Officer Chauvin was inexcusable morally. But the verdict is very questionable because of the outside influences from people like Al Sharpton and Maxine Waters. Their threats and intimidation and hanging the ‘Sword of Damocles’ over the jury – basically saying that if you don’t convict on the murder charge, or all the charges, the cities will burn, the country will be destroyed – seeped into the jury room because the judge made a terrible mistake by not sequestering a jury. So the judge himself said that this case may be reversed on appeal and I think it might be reversed on appeal. I think it should be reversed on appeal….
Dershowitz goes on to say that every American who cares about due process should be concerned that the jury verdict was influenced by these outside forces. He argues that every juror knew about the potential threat to their families, their livelihoods and to many others if they didn’t rule the right way, and noted that while the verdict could be correct in some ways, he has no confidence that it was produced by due process and the rule of law, rather than the influence of the crowd.
Dershowitz also said this:
DERSHOWITZ: What Maxine Waters did, coupled with the judge refusing to sequester the jury, will lead to the US Supreme Court ultimately reversing any conviction for Derek Chauvin
