Amash refuses to rule out a presidential run…

I don’t want to make too much out of this, but Amash was asked if he was considering a run for president on the Libertarian ticket, and he refused to take it off the table:

THE HILL – Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Tuesday said he would not rule out a third-party challenge to President Trump in 2020.

The Hill asked Amash if he is thinking about leaving the Republican Party to run for president as the Libertarian Party candidate.

“I’m just focused on defending the Constitution, it’s not something I’ve thought about,” Amash said. “I don’t take things off the table like that, but it’s not something at the forefront of my considerations right now, I’m just focused on my job. I wouldn’t take running for governor off the table or Senate or state house, I don’t take things off the table.”

He dismisses a run for president saying he never takes anything off the table.

That tells me one of two things, that either he is actually considering a run for president or he loves the attention he’s getting over suggesting Trump should be impeached.

Here he is on video actually saying impeachment proceedings should begin:

I think he must know at this point, regardless of what he says, that his chances of winning his district again have just plummeted. So it wouldn’t surprise me if he eventually throws his hat in the ring to challenge Trump for the presidency. My worry is that he’ll go the McMullin route to try and destroy Trump via the libertarian ticket rather than compete fairly in the Republican primary.
