Andy McCarthy: Prosecutors don’t have anything big or they wouldn’t be sentencing Cohen today…

An interesting video from Andy McCarthy explaining the ins and outs of Michael Cohen’s cooperation and sentencing. This was just before Cohen was sentenced today.

Watch:

McCarthy, who used to work in the SDNY office, points out that if prosecutors really had anything big on Cohen or anyone else (ie Trump), the sentencing that just happened today for Cohen wouldn’t be happening until after he got Cohen to testify. It would have been used as leverage over Cohen until they were done with him. Clearly they are done with him now and thus McCarthy believes that, just like Mueller, they don’t really have anything.

He also explained that via the court documents, Cohen didn’t want to fully cooperate with SDNY. They indicate in the documents that they believe he’s hiding stuff about himself – not Trump – and that’s why he didn’t want to fully cooperate.

UPDATE: I realized after reading some of your comments that I mistakenly mischaracterized what McCarthy said. Going back to listen to it, I think he was referring to Cohen’s prosecutors and not Mueller. He did compare it to Mueller and because of that and the questioning being about Mueller, I mixed the two up. My apologizes. The post has been corrected.
