Another California city votes to use more ‘inclusive’ language because white supremacy…

A few weeks ago we told you of the ridiculous story where the city of Berkeley is moving away from gendered-language. Well now another city in California is making a change when it comes to the language they use, but this time it’s in reference to criminals:

NY POST – “Convicted felons” may be getting a makeover in San Francisco.

Under a new resolution by the city’s Board of Supervisors — which voted to use “person-first” language in the criminal justice system — they’ll be referred to as “justice-involved persons,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

The guidelines nix other terms too, such as “prisoner,” “convict,” and “inmate,” along with any words that “obstruct and separate people from society and make the institutionalization of racism and supremacy appear normal.”

We certainly wouldn’t want people who break the law in significant ways to suffer the sting of embarrassment by calling them a convicted felon. No. We have to give them a pat on the head and make them feel better about themselves. Geez.

And did you catch what this is really about? “…the institutionalization of racism and supremacy.” It’s about ‘institutionalized’ white supremacy. Of course.

As part of the guidelines, drug addicts and substance abusers will become a “person with a history of substance abuse.”

And a “juvenile delinquent” will instead be referred to as a “young person with justice system involvement.”

“We want them ultimately to become contributing citizens, and referring to them as felons is like a scarlet letter that they can never get away from,” Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer said, according to the outlet.

I will say that it’s not necessarily a bad thing to want reformed criminals to contribute to society. But isn’t it the right of someone who is hiring people to know whether a person is a convicted felon or not? “Justice-involved person” just lumps a bunch of people together in a way that isn’t very descriptive.

Whatever. At least there will be no more white supremacy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
