Yesterday we reported on a new NPR/PBS/Marist poll that showed Republicans are fired up and surging, so much so that Democrats have lost their advantage going into the midterms.
Well another poll out last night from Quinnipiac confirms that Republicans are indeed surging:
NEWSWEEK – A new poll shows support for Democratic candidates in the upcoming midterms halving from the beginning to the end of September.
A Quinnipiac University poll, cited on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, had the Democratic lead over Republicans on the question of “Who would you support?” at +7.
The poll was carried out between September 27 and 30. A poll on the same question taken between September 6-9 had the Democratic lead at +14.
A possible cause of the lead’s narrowing is the galvanizing effect on Republicans of the Brett Kavanaugh ordeal.

I went to Quinnipiac’s website and this is the only poll I could find that suggested what Matthews was reporting. It came out October 2nd:
Five weeks before the Midterm Elections, 49 percent of American voters back the Democratic candidate in their local race for the U.S. House of Representatives and 42 percent support the Republican candidate, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today.
This compares to the results of a September 12 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University National Poll, showing Democrats with a 52 – 38 percent lead.
“The numbers suggest the big blue wave may have lost some of its momentum as House races tighten. President Donald Trump’s approval remains deeply in the red,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.”
From September 27 – 30, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,111 voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3.7 percentage points, including the design effect.
While Democrats still lead in this poll, clearly Republican enthusiasm is soaring. Hopefully with the successful nomination of Kavanaugh after what he’s been put through, it will more than eclipse Democrats by election day.
