Anti-Trump London mayor to allow orange “Baby Trump” balloon to greet Trump during UK visit next week

Next Friday Trump will travel to the UK, only to be greeted by a stupid Trump baby balloon flying outside the parliament:

NY POST – President Donald Trump will be welcomed in London next week by a 19-foot blimp dubbed “Trump baby,” according to a report on Thursday.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan gave the green light for the orange balloon depicting a sneering Trump wearing a diaper and holding a cell phone to hover near Parliament when the president arrives next Friday, Sky News reported.

Khan, who has been a persistent critic of the president, approved the request after thousands of people signed a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $18,000 for the “Trump baby” zeppelin.

“The Mayor supports the right to peaceful protest and understands that this can take many different forms,” a Khan spokesperson said. “His city operations team have met with the organizers and have given them permission to use Parliament Square Garden as a grounding point for the blimp.”

The group behind the dirigible, who call themselves “art activists,” told the news outlet that the “clone of the president” will “hold up a mirror of truth” to the world.

The balloon will be tied to the ground so that it can fly no higher than 100 feet.

While this is a pretty childish protest, I don’t think Trump is expected to visit the parliament.

Here’s what I could find out about his schedule:

Mr Trump is coming to the UK on Friday 13 July, a day after attending a Nato summit in Brussels.

The first lady, Melania Trump, is expected to join him on the three-day “working visit”…

The commander-in-chief will meet the Queen on his arrival in London, the US ambassador to the UK, Robert Wood Johnson, said on Wednesday.

The Queen has met every single US president since 1945, with the exception of Lyndon Johnson, and it appears likely she will entertain Mr Trump at Windsor Castle, which will be closed to the public on the date in question.

A meeting with the prime minister, Theresa May, is also widely expected at either Downing Street or the prime minister’s country house, Chequers, to ensure the upkeep of the “special relationship.”

Further details of his itinerary are scarce at present but White House officials are due to fly in this week to plan the schedule in detail.

Downing street isn’t far from the Parliament, but it sounds like Trump may not even go there. Also the balloon will only fly for a couple of hours.

Either way, I wouldn’t mind if someone actually ripped the Trump baby balloon so that it never got off the ground. While I certainly have a few issues with Trump, I think this is pretty juvenile and the London Mayor is a chump for allowing it.
