Some on the Left have truly become unhinged in the wake of the coronavirus spread. First they tell us it’s ‘racist’ to refer to the virus as “Chinese coronavirus”. And now, according to AOC, if you aren’t eating at Chinese or Asian restaurants because of fears of the coronavirus, you are “just straight up” racist.

Here’s what she said, exactly:
Honestly it sounds almost so silly to say but there’s a lot of restaurants that are feeling the pain of racism, where people are literally not patroning Chinese restaurants. They’re not patroning Asian restaurants because of just straight up racism around the coronavirus.
No, that’s not a typo. She really did say ‘patroning’ twice.
But back to her point about it being racist. One might say that people are overreacting in not frequenting Chinese or Asian restaurants, that perhaps they are being too cautious when it’s not yet time for that level of caution. Or one might blame the media for overhyping this story, causing people to panic in ways that are just unnecessary.
But to jump straight to racism, as AOC does here, is just absurd. People simply don’t want to get the virus and it has nothing to do with hate.
In response to this clip, Mike Huckabee said “This is like an SNL parody. She is like literally like not aware of like literally much of like anything, like not even fact there’s like literally no word “patroning” and she like is literally clueless as to what like racism literally means. And she is in Congress. Literally!”
