[AUDIO] Ted Cruz explains why Democrats have NO RIGHT to the papers they want when Kavanaugh worked for Bush admin

Ted Cruz was on with Mark Davis this morning minutes before the Kavanaugh hearing began, explaining why Democrats are simply trying to stall Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings.

Listen:

In the interview Cruz points out that Democrats have no right to the papers they are demanding to see from Kavanaugh’s tenure in the Bush administration.

Cruz explains that one of the positions Kavanaugh had was called “Staff Secretary” and in that position he was responsible for handling all paper coming in to the president. Cruz adds that just about everyone in the administration sends paper through the Staff Secretary, like the Attorney General, the Secretary of State, etc, and that Kavanaugh isn’t authoring these papers. He’s just the funnel getting it to the president.

But the Democrats, according to Cruz, are demanding to see essentially every piece of paper that Kavanaugh funneled and they have no right to do that. Cruz says no president has ever turned that over and that there are rules and laws in place on what presidential documents are are made public and when. Plus he notes that most of these papers aren’t even close to being relevant to his Supreme Court nomination.

Cruz says Democrats know that the Bush White House and the archivists who are making this determination are not going to turn them over, that they are just trying to use this as a stalling tactic.

Cruz also weighs in on whether they will get any Democratic votes for Kavanaugh. In short, he says that if the entire Republican caucus votes for Kavanaugh then he believes we will get a few. Otherwise, probably not.
