Australia’s chief health official actually tells people to STOP talking to each other because COVID

COVID insanity knows no bounds. Australia’s chief health official told people to stop talking to their neighbors and friends to help prevent the spread of COVID. Seriously.

Here’s what she said:

“So even if you run into your next door neighbor, in the shopping center, at Coles or Aldi or any other grocery shop, don’t start up a conversation. Now is the time for minimizing your interactions with others. Even if you’ve got a mask. Do not think that affords total protection. We want to be absolutely sure that as we go about our daily lives, we do not come into contact with anyone else that would pose a risk.”

A quick search and I see that this took place about three weeks ago. But even so, that’s recent enough.

Telling everyone to isolate to this level will undoubtedly have a greater effect on suicides among young people, who are already having trouble coping with severe restrictions.

Will it really help contain this virus? They told us last year that we could contain it, that social distancing and mask wearing would do the trick, and look at us now. We have a new variant that spreads more rapidly and everyone is freaking out like they did last year. And this time around we have vaccines available everywhere.

Here’s the thing, the vaccines do work against this delta variant. Why not just keep pushing people to get the vaccine instead of trying to lock everyone down and telling them to self-isolate to the point of not talking to their neighbors and friends in public. If people don’t want to get the vaccine, so be it. It’s their choice. But stop mandating these heavy restrictions on everyone.
