The governor of New York put out a plea today for people in her state to conserve power and raise their thermostat temperatures in order to save the grid.
Here’s what she wrote:
New York’s electric grid is under heavy strain as this heat wave drives up energy demand.
We’re asking New Yorkers to voluntarily conserve power by setting your A/C between 75–78°, avoiding unnecessary appliance use, and turning off lights and electronics when they’re not needed.
These small steps can help prevent outages, keep the power on, and protect the most vulnerable members of our communities.
My team is coordinating with Con Edison, NYISO, and New York City leaders to reduce demand across the grid.
Former Press Secretary for Prsident George W. Bush, Ari Fleischer, responded like a badass by saying:

So what is he talking about? Indian Point was a nuclear plant that supplied around a quarter of New York City’s energy needs, and it was all carbon-free because it was nuclear.
Then-governor Andrew Cuomo, fueled by anti-nuclear activists, shut the nuclear plant down in 2021 and now, according to Grok, “Post-closure data shows increased fossil fuel reliance in downstate New York, higher electricity prices, and greater vulnerability to peak summer demand, fueling debates over nuclear’s role in grid stability.”
Like Fleischer suggested, they wouldn’t be in this mess if they still had Indian Point up and running. But just like liberals always do, they make life more expensive and worse for people under their control. Which is just another reason, among many, why they need to be defeated in every city and state around the country, especially Washington, DC.
