In a moment of journalism on CNN today, Jake Tapper grilled AOC on her hypocrisy on voting against the House border bill but being angry that McConnell never gave it a vote in the Senate.
Just watch the first 5 minutes and you’ll see AOC having to dance around as if she’s dodging bullets being shot at her feet:
Wow, she is a mess.
First, she’s angry that Mitch McConnell “slapped down” the House bill without even giving it a vote. But she also “slapped down” the House bill by not voting for it. When Tapper asked her about it, she just complained that it had funding for ICE and she didn’t like that. She said later that she was also sending a ‘statement’ to her constituents.
Now she’s angry that the House is just going to vote on the Senate bill without debate or negotiation and it’s just gonna pass. To be honest, I don’t quibble with her having issues over the process. The problem is Democrats have waited until the last minute to deal with these issues and they are just out of time.
And let’s not forget how Pelosi got hamstrung by some of her own caucus members today who had to force her to do the right thing because they were out. of. time.
Lastly, and this one is rich, AOC blames Trump by saying he could declare an emergency and use that money to pay for toothbrushes and toothpaste; but instead he’d rather pay for an ‘inanimate wall’. But wasn’t she against Trump declaring a national emergency earlier this year? But now it’s ok for toothbrushes and toothpaste? Isn’t it the job of the Congress to grant all of this funding? Yet in all of this, she voted NO on the House bill!
