AWESOME VIDEO: Brave police officer saves dog after falling through ice into pond!

A brave New Jersey police officer named Robert Voorhees tied a rope around his waist 11 nights ago and slowly crawled over the ice to save a dog who had just fallen through the ice into a very, very cold pond (remember to unmute the video):

Here’s more:

Officers responded to a Pennington Harbourton Road property for the report of a dog that fell through the ice in a pond. The dog was unable to get out of the pond on its own.

Officers Robert Voorhees and George Peterson, along with Hopewell Valley Emergency Services and Pennington Fire Company personnel arrived at the scene to assist the dog’s owner.

Officer Voorhees volunteered to be fastened to a rope and crawled out on the edge of the ice towards the dog whose name is Nisel. Nisel swam towards Officer Voorhees who grabbed her by the collar. Officer Peterson and Specialist Dave VanDoren then pulled Officer Voorhees and Nisel to safety.

Nisel and her owner were happily reunited.

Great job to the officers and emergency responders!

Nisel is so lucky to have police officers like Voorhees and Peterson on the call and I’m glad they are getting praise and attention for risking life and limb to save man’s best friend.
