stage9 Lefty leftist says: gay marriage won’t lead to a clamor for polygamy to be accepted. It won’t lead to people marrying animals or inanimate objects. It won’t lead to children getting married to other children or adults. Get over yourselves, right-winged homophobes.
OH REALLY????!!!! Bunch of @$$clowns. By the way, the Star Trek trailer was intriguing. I’ll see if I can spare $25 for the ticket, drink, and popcorn…especially in this Obamaconomy.

OT:  If you are running into ICLEI or Agenda 21 please take a look at this – I’d like to know if you’ve run into this. In fighting Agenda 21 and ICLEI what strikes me is how well funded consistent and coordinated this initiatives are. The people act rapidly, in unison and everyone who shows up is well paid in some organization or another. and control seems centralized. Agenda 21 is but one implementation initiative. The Club of Rome seems to be driving that and more.  It is all fuzzy and hard to get a grip on but the “constitution” for this seems to be the Earth Charter produced by  this Club of Rome. Here is a very odd thing about this that I have run across about the Earth Summit forum… From http://recyclewashington.wordpress.com/2010/07/10/the-earth-charter-companion-to-agenda-21/ “Perhaps most revealing was the forum for Inter-Religious Groups and Spiritual Leaders. As stated in the… Read more »

sDee I don’t even know what to say.I have been paying pretty close attention to Agenda 21 ever since the first time I heard of it but this info is a revelation to me.Thank you for sharing.I will share it at the next meeting of my patriot group. Many of us have been trying to head this off at the pass in our state.

@57thunderbird Thanks. I posted before that they are deep into local government too because  the zoning, property rights and environmental regulations that control citizens directly are managed at city and county level

I always find it curious how the “conservatives” here and elsewhere turn a blind eye to liberalism for the sake of entertainment. Most of those associated with this move are very liberal and openly support the liberal agenda with time and money. Add to that Mr Spock is openly homosexual. But the entertainment value makes it ok. This kind of mushyness is why our society is lost.

K-Bob @DanKlapp You are quite correct. But giving your money to and glorifing products produced by people who don’t have your best interest in mind is not very smart. The Hollywood crowd is very militant in there goals of supporting those that would destroy the fundementals that made this country great.

Thanks for the Open Thread, Scoop! For anyone else who is starting to get fed up with the coming cramdown of aspirants for 2016, where a conga line(1) of pandering, unprincipled cronies is lining up for your vote as we speak, I have some news items that may alarm you. Most of you know I’m fed up with people like Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and too many others falling for the leftist framing of the massive problem we have with porous borders. Simply put: we do not have an “immigration” problem; we have a massive illegal alien problem. And Republicans, particularly these supposed “rising stars” on the right, who keep claiming to seek reform of our immigration process are not focusing on reality.(2) Here are the problems: -1- We really don’t know the scope anymore of the real numbers of illegals in the country right now.  Is it 10, 12,… Read more »

K-BobWe’ve had enough liberal talking points about illegals and enough pandering by Republicans. Your right all we need is someone who won’t be baited by the liberal press and just stick to immigration law. It doesn’t take towering intellect to figure out the correct thing to say and not be dissuaded from it.
I’d like to add this link because Heritage has come up with strategies we need to start now for 2014.

Let me add to that last bit. The correct position on this by any aspiring GOP hopefuls should be: “Conservatives and the Republican party have always supported immigrants who have come to America to seek their prosperity. We feel it is one of our sacred duties to provide a home for liberty, where the oppressed people of the world can come and build a brighter future for themselves and their children.  Like all modern democratic societies, we believe that a nation must provide a secure environment, where people who have suffered from totalitarianism and dictatorship can feel safe, and enjoy the blessings of liberty that made this country great. To bring this security to our citizens and new immigrants, we can and must be willing, like all of our economic partners in the world, to prevent people from entering illegally and debasing the very society that attracted people to these… Read more »

Las1Those are a couple of reasons I haven’t seen a movie in years. The hypocritical Hollyweird left disgusts me. Another reason is the exorbitant cost of going to a movie. If you have to take out a small loan just to see a movie, it’s not worth it. Besides, I don’t feel I need to line the pockets of those who, for the most part, hate conservatism and everything it stands for (shout out to Michael Moore). That, unlike taxes, is what I have control over where my money goes.

Hollywood will not get a dime of mine.  Star Trek Socialism.

“In the finale of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, “The Neutral Zone,” Enterprise discovers a 20th century Earth craft with three frozen humans still alive in it. One of them is a super-wealthy businessman whose entire life was built around money making. He is eager to find out what’s happened to his investments in the intervening centuries.  What’s happened is that the human race has evolved out of capitalism. There is no more money, which leaves the businessman bereft of a sense of purpose.
In the next Star Trek series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, one of the continuing thematic concerns is the relationship between the socialist Federation and the ruthlessly capitalist (and patriarchal) Ferengi. In the end, the Ferengi undergo a dramatic transformation into a welfare state.”

This clip covers Picard’s summary in The Neutral Zone.

I watched ’em all but fortunately had been brought up to the evils of socialism. I think we underestimate its propaganda effect on young minds.
Hollywood is my enemy. I see the world quite simply now.

I remember some episodes that criticized socialism…the original was a mixed bag, with the whole idea of going out and exploring, and exploiting to some extent. Colonies, wars, the whole show was about human diaspora, freedom, and expansion. There was even a parallel history planet where the USA got whipped and centuries later our descendants were over running the communist’s. Yeah, sometimes the super duper advanced aliens got on our case. But over all the first two seasons were starship sf, drawn from the greats…Clarke, Asimov, Anderson, Heinlein, Brackett, and many others.
The rest has been pure socialist dreck. Abrams has upped the ante on that, and his version is utterly unpalatable to me.

sDee yes there is a socialist mindset in Star Trek but I am not afraid to say it, I am a trekky, I just think the show or shows were great.

sDee Cracked.com did a great video on how the Trek verse is actually a dystopian society.
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1Kju_-1sYM
Also check out the book “The Politics of Trek”
You’ll find out that a of episodes have great conservative themes, especially in the Original Series.

I don’t care though, I’ll always be a trek fan.

sDee It”s not socialism, the society of the federation is based on the supremacy of the individual. People’s needs are met through technology and people dedicate themselves to their own betterment. There is no money because since everyone is their own manufacturer there is nothing to buy. There is very little government because people look after themselves. Everybody in the federation has what they need due to the technology that everyone possesses, but the philosophy is based on individualism which is the opposite of socialism. The people in the federation make their own way and decide for themselves if they wish to belong to organizations (like Starfleet) which in turn is based on the free association of individuals. Of course this is all very utopian but it is a vision of the future and a fantasy.

sDee They SAY those things, yet they use currency almost all the time. They just don’t call it money. They barter. They blackmail. They exchange all sorts of things from services to information to peace treaties to cloaking devices. It is very much a capitalist society despite the characters saying it isn’t.
Does everyone get to be captain of the flagship? No, they have to compete for it.

Well, that’s nice. But being as Abrams is a big obama boy, I’m boycotting all his ‘stuff”, just like I am disney et al.
Besides, it’s a poor imitation just as next generation…ridden with political correctness. No thanks.
