Ben Shapiro put out his two cents worth this morning on the debt ceiling deal negotiated by Kevin McCarthy and the White House.
In short, he suggests the deal is a success compared to Biden’s demand for a clean debt increase:
I agree with every single critique of the shortcomings of the debt limit deal. In a rational world, we wouldn't just be fighting over discretionary spending, we'd be restructuring entitlements. We don't live in that world. Biden is the president; Schumer is the Senate leader.

Is the deal a success or a failure for conservatives? To decide, the question is: compared to what? Compared to the ideal, it's a giant bag of failure mixed with a heaping helping of bankruptcy. Compared to Joe Biden's proposed clean debt increase, it's a success.

I fail to understand why conservatives are more agitated over McCarthy's deal than they were with the fact that with Trump as president and full control of Congress, Republicans increased spending.

I’m honestly inclined to agree with him here. I would also add that I think McCarthy did a pretty good job with this debt ceiling fight. He got a debt ceiling agreement passed in the House and that allowed him to put serious pressure on the White House. He never capitulated to their pressure to pass a clean debt increase and kept demanding they come to the table. He won and they finally did begin negotiations.
Compare this to what a very weak Boehner did in 2014, giving Obama and the Democrats the clean debt ceiling increase they demanded.
