I emphasize the date because this is the same thing Joe Biden said on February 24th, when he told Peter Alexander “let’s have a conversation in another month or so to see if they’re working”:
Q Mr. President, if I can, you detailed some severe and swift new sanctions today and said the impact it will have over time, but given the full-scale invasion, given that you’re not pursuing disconnecting Russia from what’s called “SWIFT” — the international banking system — or other sanctions at your disposal, respectfully, sir, what more are you waiting for?
THE PRESIDENT: Specifically, the sanctions we’ve imposed exceed SWIFT. The sanctions we imposed exceed anything that’s ever been done. The sanctions we imposed have generated two thirds of the world joining us. They are profound sanctions. Let’s have a conversation in another month or so to see if they’re working.
It’s been almost a month and a half since Biden made that statement and they still aren’t willing to have that conversation. The sanctions haven’t worked against Putin as Biden has claimed they would, calling them the toughest sanctions ever, and his administration is still saying they need more time.
The only thing that has worked to stop this Russian invasion is the people and military of Ukraine. That’s the only thing that’s made a difference thus far.
The sanctions that Biden and the rest of the world promised would cripple Putin and change his behavior have simply not done what they’ve claimed. How much longer do they expect Ukraine to wait???
