Biden Nat Sec Adviser makes ABSURD excuse in interview on Afghanistan and not even NBC host could let it pass

Biden’s National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan made a ridiculous excuse in an interview this morning on the Today Show when asked about Biden’s comments on Afghanistan and the reality on the ground:

In the clip, NBC’s Savannah Guthrie played a clip of Biden saying just a few days ago:

“The likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.”

AND

REPORTER: “Do you see any parallels between this withdrawal and what happened in Vietnam with some people feeling…”

BIDEN: “None whatsoever. Zero. There’s going to be no circumstance where you’re going to see people being lifted off the roof of a embassy of the United States from Afghanistan.”

Guthrie then said “And yet that is precisely what we have seen over these last few days. How do you explain getting this so wrong?”

Sullivan responds “To be fair, the helicopter has been the mode of transport from our embassy to the airport for the last 20 years.”

Seriously? A dodge? This is how he defends Biden saying none of this would happen and then watching all of it happen?

Even Guthrie couldn’t let this one slide. She interrupted him saying “But you know the larger point. It’s not the helicopter. It’s not the mechanism. No no, it’s the last minute scramble. You know that. It’s the last minute scramble when the assurances from the president himself were that this was not what we were going to see.”

Sullivan then tries to claim that no one saw the Taliban taking over this quickly, but as we pointed out this morning, that’s not true. The intelligence agencies are saying they saw it coming, told Biden, and he ignored their assessment.

So all we’re getting is lies and super lame excuses from Biden’s top National Security Adviser. Pathetic.

By the way, Biden has finally decided to leave his vacation at Camp David and will be giving a statement/speech on Afghanistan this afternoon. I seriously doubt he’ll take any questions, because they’ll probably all be akin to ‘why should we believe you now?’.
