A deal was reached this evening between Senate Republicans and a number of Democrats, enough of them to get to 60 votes in order to reopen the government. And that vote has just happened.
Technically, this is a cloture vote to break the filibuster on the bill to reopen the government, but this is indeed the vote that matters.
Below are the eight ‘yes’ votes from Democrats:
Sen. Dick Durbin (IL)
Sen. Maggie Hassan (NH)
Sen. Tim Kaine (VA)
Sen. Angus King (I-ME)
Sen. Cortez Masto (NV)
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (NH)
Sen. Jacky Rosen (NV)
Sen. John Fetterman (PA)
Schumer made a point to say he was not one of them:
Schumer will vote NO but allow others to vote YES with Republicans.

And Bernie did the same:
Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is raging on the Senate floor regarding the government funding bill that is expected to pass.

Honestly, I think this so-called ‘division’ with a handful of Democrats might not be a division at all, but a way for Democrats to try and have their cake and eat it too. I think it’s part of the ‘plan’.
Once the final vote to open the government is made, either tonight or tomorrow, the bill will then go to the House for final passage and then to President Trump’s desk. And that all may take a few days.
