Big Chief Elizabeth Warren finally apologizes to the Cherokee Nation

Big Chief Elizabeth Warren has finally apologized to the Cherokee Nation for her ridiculous DNA test last year where she tried to claim Cherokee blood was in her ancestry and thus, she’s part Cherokee:

NY POST – Sen. Elizabeth Warren has apologized to the Cherokee Nation for her decision to take a DNA test to prove her Native American ancestry, according to reports.

“Senator Warren has reached out to us and has apologized to the tribe,” tribal spokeswoman Julie Hubbard said in a statement Friday.

“We are encouraged by this dialogue and understanding that being a Cherokee Nation tribal citizen is rooted in centuries of culture and laws not through DNA tests. We are encouraged by her action and hope that the slurs and mockery of tribal citizens and Indian history and heritage will now come to an end.”

Critics have accused the Massachusetts Democrat, who is running for her party’s presidential nomination, of advancing her career as a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard by claiming Cherokee heritage.

President Trump has repeatedly mocked his potential 2020 challenger by calling her “Pocahontas” — even offering $1 million to a charity of her choice if she took a DNA test that proved her claim.

The last part of their statement is most definitely aimed at Trump. But I doubt he’ll stop mocking her even with an appropriate apology. It doesn’t change the fact that she used it in the past to bolster her educational career.

So why apologize now? Well it’s obvious she’s trying to put this behind her. It’s still very early in the campaign and she’s hoping most people will set it aside and forget about it as primary politics are sure to heat up in the coming months. We all know that in primaries, the smallest things can sometimes be blown out of proportion with so many candidates to choose from.

So yes it was the right thing to do, but it was very much a political move as well.
