The city of New York is currently experiencing what it it feels like when their leftist idealism gets smacked in the head by reality in terms of their illegal immigrant problem.
They’ve been a Sanctuary City for years and they’ve been a “Right to Shelter” city for decades. Now they are struggling under the huge influx of illegals that have come to their city by way of the border that they must provide shelter for by law.
Bill Clinton just addressed this in an interview this weekend, saying the ‘Right to Shelter’ law is broken and that illegals should be made to work and pay taxes like any other citizen.

Former President Bill Clinton agreed with New York Gov. Kathy Hochul on Saturday by arguing that New York City’s “Right to Shelter Law” must be changed.
“Gov. [Kathy] Hochul thinks it should be modified, and it probably should under the circumstances,” Clinton told radio host John Catsimatidis on 77 WABC radio’s “The Cats Roundtable” show, as flagged by the New York Post.
“It’s broken. We need to fix it,” Clinton said, adding that the law “doesn’t make any sense.”
The “Right to Shelter” has existed in New York City for more than 40 years and requires sheltering for the homeless. New York is an asylum city.
“They come here, and we’re supposed to shelter people who can’t get work permits for six months. We need to change that,” he said, noting that migrants have a right to begin “paying their way” in American society.
“They ought to work,” Clinton said. “They need to begin working, paying taxes and paying their way. Most of these people have no interest in being on welfare.”
Isn’t it funny now liberals finally come to a better conclusion when they find out their leftist ideology doesn’t work?
I say ‘better’ conclusion because it’s still wrong. The right conclusion is that we shouldn’t be allowing these illegals into the country at all, that we should secure the border and only process legitimate asylum cases that begin in the country of origin.
Clinton also said that illegals should be held at the border and only sent to cities where they can get a job:
Clinton also called for more housing to be built to hold migrants.
“We should build more housing just over the Rio Grande, and Mexico, I think, would support that,” he said. “Keep people there, and let them in as quickly as possible if they are going someplace where we know they can get a job, and they’ll be welcome.”
That’s just another way of saying what Hochul said recently when she claimed illegals should go somewhere else because New York is ‘full’. And the idea of keeping illegals at the border is preposterous. It’s just another way of kicking the main problem on someone else, like Texas and Arizona.
If these liberals really want credibility on the issue if illegal immigration, then tell Joe Biden to secure the damn border and stop allowing illegals into the country.
