Loudmouth liberal atheist Bill Maher, when he was done trashing Herschel Walker on Friday night, turned to the subject of Kanye West and anti-Semitism. Speaking to former Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, he read quotes from two members of congress — without saying their names.
Maher first read a quote from Kanye about going “deathcon 3 on Jewish people,” and jokingly asked the former prime minister, “well Israel retaliate?”
After Bibi talked for a minute about anti-Semitism and the potential for violence, Maher turned to the two mystery members of congress, whom he quoted.
“I just want to read a few quotes from American congresspeople just to show that Kanye West’s comment is not really out of order with some things that are said by people in more official positions,” he said.
“Here’s one, ‘Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.’ Ten years ago, if you read that to me, I’d have thought that would be from Hezbollah. That’s an American congressperson. Another American congressperson says, ‘The reality of Israel’s apartheid government,’ goes on to say, ‘the occupation and ethnic cleansing Palestinians [must] live with every day.’ Another one says Israel targets media sources ‘so the world can’t see Palestinians being massacred.'”
Those quotes are from Rep. Rashida Tlaib and Rep. Ilhan Omar. And Democrats are pretty much fine with that. It’s a point Bill Maher apparently wants you to notice without him saying it out loud.
