Here’s a perfect example of the dumb traps that Democrats and the media set up for Trump. After John Lewis died there were plenty of statements and tweets from every politician to pay their respects. But, the Congressional Black caucus demanded that Trump NOT say anything:
.@realDonaldTrump while the nation mourns the passing of a national hero, please say nothing. Please don’t comment on the life of Congressman Lewis. Your press secretary released a statement, leave it at that.
Please let us mourn in peace.

That is California Congresswoman Karen Bass, the chair of the 55-member, all-Black coalition in Congress. So OK, clearly that is politicized in an attempt to denigrate the president.
But then, simultaneously, there’s these idiots trying to shame him into saying something:

Still no words yet from Trump, but VP Pence has just issued a statement about John Lewis, a former House colleague and friend: “Congressman John Lewis was a great man whose courage and decades of public service changed America forever, and he will be deeply missed.”

Also, he waited too long:
Fourteen hours passed before President Donald Trump took to Twitter to acknowledge the death of civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis. https://t.co/sqMRB99vLh

And… nothing he ever said could be good ever at all:
Gotta be honest, there’s nothing Trump could say to acknowledge John Lewis’ passing that wouldn’t make me furious.
Because Trump would gladly undo John Lewis’s entire legacy.
So fuck him. https://t.co/XF3cs8RfcE

So, he shouldn’t have said anything, also he should have said something, and he waited too long to say something, but nothing he said could have been sufficient. Now, did the media ever put Obama in such a no-win situation? LOL! The very suggestion is laughable…
