Black Republican drops the cold hard truth in Democrat hearing on reparations [VIDEO]

Burgess Owens, former Oakland Raider and Democrat-turned-Republican, was invited to the House hearing today on slavery and reparations and gave Democrats a schooling they desperately needed to hear:

Watch the video to get his full remarks, but the part at the end really stuck with me.

After gently mocking ‘who’ should pay reparations (Democrats and Republican consumed with white guilt), Burgess said:

“…That way we can get past reparations and recognize that this country has given us greatness. Look at this panel. It doesn’t matter how we think; it doesn’t matter our color. We have become successful in this country like no other because of this great opportunity to live the American dream. Let’s not steal that from our kids by telling them they can’t do it.

I love this. It fills me with joy to hear Owens say this because we all know it’s true.

Democrats want so heavily to focus on the negativity of the past that children today must be hearing that they can’t do it, that they need government to help them because this country isn’t made for them because of the color of their skin. But it’s just not true and I’m glad Burgess made it plain enough for them to understand.

  1. Good. I’ll bet that they’re steaming, being told the truth from a black man who had the temerity to leave the Democrat plantation.

    1. But he’s a Republican so the Uncle Tom and House N****a name calling shall commence shortly

    2. He not only left it, he dove head first…Democrats have been trying to lay that yolk on Republicans since they were McCarthyized.

  2. A man to be admired and respected. I have many friends and love ones who are different color than I am and they think like I do. We are all created equal and The GOD of Heaven sees us all the same. How wonderful it would be if the race baiters would believe the same.

  3. It would be mighty difficult to add anything to that, well done, sir. I will say this, however, not as rebuttal, but as a side comment. After decades of extending special considerations for black populations, Affirmative Action (a racist program if I have ever seen one), lowered college standards, and making a virtual pet of blacks by the Demwit Party, I am now fully exhausted of sympathy, I have no more f#*ks to give. Realizing how much of my tax dollars have gone in the past to fund these various programs, give-aways, and special considerations, if any move is made to pay anyone reparations to these people, I will simply refuse to pay anymore taxes, even at risk of coming to the attention of the IRS. Enough.

  4. Portugal and Britain were the two most ‘successful’ slave-trading countries accounting
for about 70% of all Africans transported to the Americas. How come Portugal and Britain are not included in this reparations brainstorm? And what about the blacks own people in Africa who caught and enslaved them during local warfares and then traded them to the slave traders?

  5. Reparations are just another garden variety vote buying scam.

Don’t want to work? We will send you a paycheck.
Suffered racism? We will send you a check.
Car didn’t start this morning? We will send you a check.
Favorite team didn’t make it to the playoffs? We will send you a check

  6. Change “reparations” to “free college” or “free healthcare” and voila! You have another basic Leftist attempt at voter pandering.

They are the most evil among us.

  7. Wow! Blown away! Love to see a clip of that made into a campaign ad by the Republican Party.

Made my day!!!! Do you think he got through the thick liberal skulls?

    1. @danaellen Sadly no. Most of the crowd he is talking to is so indoctrinated they can’t change their mind. The majority of the small percentage left are browbeaten into submission and brought back to the plantation group think. The few who have managed to freely discern and bravely walk away are rare. The good news; the number of blacks leaving the Dems is growing. I’m waiting for the dam to burst and the mass exodus to begin.

  8. In passing I heard a black guy say that the Democrats are making a victim of him. Must have been one more black guy there because this guy didn’t say that.

I wish blacks would listen to this guy. Democrats do NOT have their best interests at heart and intend on keeping them at victim status forever. If Democrats lose the black vote they’re finished. Oh yeah…not quite. We still have the illegal vote to contend with which will sharply rise in the coming years.

    1. Thankfully blacks are starting to wake up to how they’ve been played by the Left. It’s not monolithic yet but it’s picking up some steam. Now all that needs to be done is to somehow convince those who’ve become addicted to the government feed trough that they can make the move away from that without destroying them financially. They’ve settled for little when they are fully capable of doing and getting so much more.

      1. Yes. One thing they can do is teach business and entrepreneurship to the kids, with a free market pov. Also, teach morals and honor. Bring in men who have stood by their families to teach the next generation how to do it.

Loved Mr. Owens. I suppose he was either nervous or has some speech impediment due to football, so it was a little hard to catch it all, but he was great. We always say this, but he should run for office.

      2. @philliesthoughts I think the best way to accomplish that is to get them out of highly populated Democrat strongholds. The culture is poisonous and the Democrats feed it by telling them that it’s not their fault. Hatred of police, presence of gangs, high dropout rates for school, high crime rates, high rates of welfare, and the victim mentality. We have to somehow change the message they are being intentionally given.

      1. @nc-checks-and-balances That is true for sure, but he’s giving the message to blacks and people consumed with “white guilt”. They need to hear it the most.

  9. Yep. Marxism is real and it’s all about manipulating those that are deemed to be lesser. Glad he spoke up.

  10. Reminds me of things I’ve read by Clarence Thomas and Thomas Sowell. God bless this man seeing so clearly and being brave enough to speak the truth in a den of thieves.

  11. Meanwhile, famous black actor worth $40million is claiming a moral imperative to be compensated for the structural racism that has limited his ability to participate and advance in America.

    Derping you so hard, Danny.

    1. Thats OK,however Mike trout of the California Angels, signed a 13 year contract for $400 Million.Wonder what Danny Glover will say about that.Side Note,Mike is White.

    2. @atomicsentinel It is so sickening to see successful blacks complain about how horrible our country is and how it keeps the black population down.

    3. These days in many areas of entertainment if you’re not a member of some special group you are discriminated against and have way fewer opportunities.

  12. Will every family of every US Soldier who died fighting the Confederate Soldiers be excluded from having to pay for this SCAM?

Will every White American who married a Black American be excluded from having to pay their portion of this SCAM?

Will every White American who adopted a Black American be excluded from having to pay their portion of this SCAM?

Will every White American who ever employed a Black American be excluded from having to pay for this SCAM?

Black Americans have been told for decades that their only hope is to suck from the Government teat, and all it has done is poison every Black American who believed that lie into victimhood and racism.

It’s disgusting and gross and un-American to call on the People of America to pay for crimes they were not alive to commit. Burgess is 100% correct, it’s the current Democratic Party that has destroyed Black America.

    1. @eric Depends on who you ask, but for those demanding reparations the answer is “No” because all those people are still guilty of being white, and for decades the black communities have been told Whitey is the cause of all their problems, is out to get them and Whitey has to pay.

      1. I’m not paying anything. I’ve got abolitionists, union soldiers and underground RR operators in my family tree. And even if it were not so, I’m not paying for something I didn’t do, and have already been paying for through taxes.

  13. Morgan Freeman back in 2005 said there shouldn’t even be a black history month. I’ll go further there is no longer a reason for the NAACP, black caucus or any other group that further divides. As long as the Danny Glovers and Al Sharptons are alive and indoctrinating the younger ones that they are ” victims ” they always will be.

    1. I always thought black history month is condescending. Although I’ll take it any day over the various ‘history months’ coming down the pike celebrating mental illnesses and perversions.

  14. By the way, you guys should read his book, you’ll learn stuff you didn’t know, i promise you

  15. Excellent.

Here’s what I maintain about how slavery was ended in the West:

The Declaration of Independence was the modern beginning of formal recognition, among all Christendom, that God’s rules must not be abrogated in the institution of government.

Abolitionists existed for a century or more here in the Americas, and in the British Empire. But they never formally had the law on their side. The Declaration–further formalized in the Constitution–made certain that abolitionists could not only speak freely, but could print, and distribute (although distribution was not legal in many places overseas) their words throughout the world. They had space within the law to grow.

Most importantly, here in the US, abolitionists had the right to keep and bear arms.

Thus, the US, despite the continuance of slavery here, and around the world, was the only place abolitionism could thrive and expand… At first.

Without the Declaration and Constitution behind it here, abolitionism would never have gained prominence in Europe. (The Church wasn’t getting it done by itself, even though it was gaining ground.)

So our Second Amendment is the singlemost important factor in the growth of abolitionism. That’s the first point.

The second point is that our Civil War was the test of our Declaration and Constitution. It took the deaths of over 700,000 people to essay this Great Challenge to our Founding. The result is that always and forever, slavery is deemed unlawful, abhorrent, sinful, and a thing good men must act to eliminate.

    That’s what the US did.

We weren’t really the face of slavery. It was a worldwide practice. We are the face of liberty. We ask nothing from the world to repay us for ending slavery among most nations.

    You’re welcome.

  16. Dems are so incredibly stupid. They have, yet again, pointed out their own crimes and weaknesses by these hearings. It seems such hearings have been blowing up in their faces of late. So be it. They have to own it.

  17. I disagree w slavery reparations because the damage that slavery has already been done cannot be repaired. The people they want to force other people who had nothing to do with this type of evil, they cannot pay their way out of the fact of the disgusting stain on our nation, which was brutal involuntary servitude.

    1. That’s right. How do leftists justify making Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, European settlers post-1865, etc. pay tax dollars to black Americans who never experienced slavery?

      1. Not just that, but also , there’s no amount of money or anything that someone can pay to where both parties can be like “ight it’s settled, we’re even now” besides, even if there was a system like that, one side would get richer and richer and the other side would get poorer and poorer because power and greed always wants more and more

  19. What percentage of Americans actually owned slaves pre-1865 (<1 percent)? What percentage of African Americans were sold into slavery by other Africans pre-1808 (99+ percent)? What percentage of Americans -currently living- are descendants of a pre-1865 slave owner in America (<0.1 percent)?

  20. Dems are so incredibly stupid. They have, yet again, pointed out their own crimes and weaknesses by these hearings. It seems such hearings have been blowing up in their faces of late. So be it. They have to own it.

  23. The reason for this reparation garbage is that too many blacks are fleeing the Democrat plantation and the Left wants them back.

  24. Portugal and Britain were the two most ‘successful’ slave-trading countries accounting for about 70% of all Africans transported to the Americas. How come Portugal and Britain are not included in this reparations brainstorm? And what about the blacks own people in Africa who caught and enslaved them during local warfares and then traded them to the slave traders?

This whole idea of “black” reparations is immoral and unconstitutional.

  25. Well half my grandparents came to the USA after the Civil War… so does that mean that I get a 50% discount on any reparation payments I have to make?

    1. My family has historical records of 2 members fighting on the Union side of the civil war. Another family member ran a house on the underground railroad. Guess I am owed some money back from the ancestors of the slaves my family helped to freedom.

  26. He’s on point about history. “Modern” historians claim to strive for “creating a usable past.”

Usable to whom? Usable for what?

Usable to them as a basis for pushing their political agenda whether that is affirmative action, reparations, or wealth redistribution.

They apply a fixed template to every event and historical figure:
    – skin color
    – ethnic group
    – sex
    – sexuality

Nowhere in discussing their approaches do they mention seeking the truth or focusing on what is historically significant. This is approach they indoctrinate in their students.

  28. I’m still waiting for one of these shoe-shining, buck dancing house Negros of the DNC to talk about Juneteenth. Lord knows the White liberals won’t, because they’re still mad about it.

  29. Approximately 360,000 Union soldiers died during the Civil War. Is that not
reparation enough or do we have to put a price tag on this? Or is this just
another Democrat grab to be exchanged for votes and fortune?

    1. And if we pay restitution how do we know we’re not paying restitution to black slave owners???

  30. The reason for this reparation garbage is that too many blacks are fleeing the Democrat plantation and the Left wants them back.

  31. Demoncrats want to perpetually use tax payer money to buy (bribe and extort) their votes. It is time to end the punitive, repressive, and Demoncrat manipulated 16th amendment and replace it with the Fair Tax Act. Next all budgets, federal pay raises, and tax increases must be approved by line item vote via a national ballot. Next ratify an annual balanced budget amendment.

  32. Portugal and Britain were the two most ‘successful’ slave-trading countries accounting for about 70% of all Africans transported to the Americas. 33. I’ve been listening to Levin make this same point for years! Slavery, Jim Crow, Forced Segregation has always been Democrat crap! Hats off to Burgess Owens and ANY member of ANY race who has “bought into” the American Dream.

  34. This might be a horrible remark but would black people on welfare get reparations since they already continuously get money from the govt?

  35. Well half my grandparents came to the USA after the Civil War… so does that mean that I get a 50% discount on any reparation payments I have to make?

    1. @watchman He actually did say both of those things. He said he used to be a Democrat until he did his history and found out the misery that party brought to his race. He also said that the Democrat party and any whites that feel guilty because of their white skin should pony up so we can put this behind us and realize that this country has given us (I assume blacks) greatness.

  51. Morgan Freeman back in 2005 said there shouldn’t even be a black history month. I’ll go further there is no longer a reason for the NAACP, black caucus or any other group that further divides.

    1. I ALMOST agree with you @eric we don’t qualify for not having to pay based on the criteria you posted. How are about just sick to death of working hard to subsidize the Obama phone ” gimme gimme ” crowd ?

      1. That reason is good enough for me… how about us not paying for it because it’s ridiculous and stupid beyond all measure?

I’m just pointing out how absurd it is to say reparations need to be paid. By whom? To whom? Is every Black American that receives the reparations going to have to provide proof that they were part of a slave family? It’s just all absurd beyond all measure.

        1. so so sick of this nonsense @eric such tough decisions depending on outcome may have to either go down to Mexico and come across border holding my hand out ( as a born USA citizen 😉 ) or pull a Rachel Dolezal or wait wait do something to go to prison and get further college education ( per Mike Lee and others pushing prisoner Pell grants ).

        2. @eric I would be willing to bet all blacks will be entitled because regardless of their personal history they’ve all suffered from the knowledge that some white Americans over 150 years ago owned slaves.

        3. Maybe they should also have to prove they were not descendants of those blacks who also held slaves.

And every Republican should be exempt for the sake of those GOP who were lynched working on behalf of black Americans. We can go on and on because everybody has good and bad ancestors.

  54. I and Burgess Owens think alike. The Blacks that feel they deserve reparation should be ashamed of themselves for begging for money off the backs sweat and tears of all those slaves whose suffered for so little and gave so much.I thought I heard Burgess say that some Blacks have become racist and beggars, but maybe I didn’t.

    1. @bigsir74 Yes Burgess did call some blacks racist and beggars, the ones that buy into reparations, and the Democratic mantra.

    2. It’s like ambulance chasers glomming off the people who suffered ( in this case, long gone).

  55. He’s basically out that a black teen in the last century had more opportunity than now … Sad, but true. He identifies the cause perfectly … Democrats telling an entire race they are victims. Unfortunately, he spoke so much truth that those who need to hear probably stopped listening.

  56. Approximately 360,000 Union soldiers died during the Civil War. Is that not

    1. It’s like ambulance chasers glomming off the people who suffered ( in this case, long gone).

  64. He’s basically out that a black teen in the last century had more opportunity than now … Sad, but true. He identifies the cause perfectly … Democrats telling an entire race they are victims. Unfortunately, he spoke so much truth that those who need to hear probably stopped listening.
