BOOM! AG Barr to question TOP CIA officials over FISA surveillance!

The New York Times reports that Attorney General William Barr is getting serious about finding out just how it was that the FISA surveillance was approved against Trump campaign officials.

And he will not spare the top officials at the CIA:

The Justice Department plans to interview senior CIA officers as part of its investigation into the origins of the Russia investigation, according to The New York Times.

CIA Director Gina Haspel has told senior officials that while the CIA plans to cooperate, it will protect information that could place sources or collection methods at risk, the newspaper reported, citing current and former American officials.

The Department of Justice has not filed formal written requests to talk to the officers, but intelligence officials have been informed that Attorney General William Barr has assigned the United States attorney in Connecticut, John H. Durham, to seek the interviews, according to the Times.

Haspel does not plan to block the interviews and has told officers it will be possible to talk with Durham without risking agency secrets.

Barr is reportedly seeking further information on how the agency concluded Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian operatives to aid President Trump’s 2016 campaign and damage that of Hillary Clinton, according to the Times, citing current and former officials.

Hannity talked about it after a few minutes of telling Republican politicians how wonderful and amazing they are:

Hopefully we’ll get some answers, but I’m not holding my breath. All we get is unsubstantiated accusations and people yelling “treason” on twitter endlessly…..

    1. This is how I feel. There will be no consequences whatsoever and conservatives will continue to get banned from twitter and youtube, etc. That is the world we live in now

    2. I’m hoping there are dozens of perp walks from regular staff all the way to the Corruptor In Chief BO!

  1. If you chase a snake across the yard, it’ll likely retreat down into it’s hole.

I applaud AG Barr and respect him. But I have a bad feeling that evidence will disappear (like freaking Hillary having her servers wiped) or people will just claim the 5th. I don’t have a lot of hope that this will be fruitful. I hope I’m wrong.

    1. right , Brennan has been one of the main ppl at the center of all of this, he’s the one with the main connects to British Intel

  2. I believe I Also heard tonight on Hannity that Mueller was using some information taken from the Dossier to conduct some of his investigation. So he might be right in the middle of these criminal activities.Mueller and his team questioned many subjects and probably with Clapper and Brennen Providing the illegal information.

  3. I think Barr is very serious about holding people to account, and I very much expect to find out a lot more information about how deep the shenanigans ran in the Obama administration.

How much those people will pay is a very different question. I think Obama knew exactly what was going on, and I seriously doubt they’re going to follow those chains all the way to the former president.

What’s important is that there be enough consequences to prevent future president’s from pulling the same stunts.

That outcome remains to be seen, though.

  4. The media stars have been telling us, “The walls are closing in,” for years now. And they were right!

    1. Quite honestly I don’t trust the CIA. There are probably a lot of decent agents but the hierarchy, like the hierarchy elsewhere in our federal law enforcement, is corrupt to the core. That’s just my opinion but I see far more evidence that I’ve right than that I’m wrong.

Are there good people in the FBI – of course there are. Ditto the DOJ. But IMO, and again this is just my opinion, the crooks took over a long time ago.

I wish Barr luck because I believe he’s as honest a man as we will see at the DOJ. Many of the worker bees are also honest. But the embedded corruption is too deep and too wide to destroy without an honest media. And we know where we are with that.

  7. I don’t do Twitter – never did – never will. From what I read coming from Twitter it is 90% idiots hurling invective at each other. We have an epidemic of “adults” who are in permanent adolescence. Social Media’s only saving grace, IMO, is that it has outed all the nasty people we live with and next to.

Social Media wasn’t needed to prove that our government is riddled with fools, crooks, incompetents and liars. And the voting public will support every dang one of them.

I wish Barr luck. I believe he is one of the few adult and honest, or as honest as anyone in our government can be, around. But he’s so outnumbered by the scum I doubt he will be able to do much.

    1. I had Twitter for 6 months and discarded it. It’s a sewer. An intellectually vacant wasteland. A medium guaranteed to make your debate skills dumber.

Most of the people on it are like monkeys at the zoo flinging poo at each other. Nobody really cares about it, except media types, the monkeys, and click baiters.

It is also why I rarely come here any more, because most threads are about the latest food fight amongst the aforementioned monkeys in the aforementioned sewer, and the poo flinging inevitably winds up here.

  11. No one ever seems to be held accountable in Washington, but if Barr can make the people with dirty hands break into a cold sweat, it’s worth him scaring the hell out of them.

    1. right , Brennan has been one of the main ppl at the center of all of this, he’s the one with the main connects to British Intel

  12. I’m not holding my breath that anything comes of this investigation. I trust that Barr will conduct a thorough investigation, but I don’t want to end up like the Democrats by coming to conclusions and getting egg on my face. I personally believe that there was a vendetta against Trump to get him under the witch hunt microscope, but I will accept whatever conclusion Barr comes to. I don’t find him to be a man that abuses his power to play politics….like Lynch and Holder.

    1. @kong1967 I’m hoping that some of these crooks get locked up, but I’ve learned long ago not to get my hopes up. If anything, some little fish will fall on the sword to protect the Hagfish.

      1. @dr-strangelove Oh yeah, I’ve already written her off. IMO there are some people that we will never see held accountable and she’s one of them.

  13. Don’t remember where but a few weeks ago I had read some ex CIA people had gone and talked to Barr. No names were given in the article. I’m glad Barr and Durham aren’t wasting any time investigating what happened in 2016. Thinking Brennan/Clapper et al should lawyer up.

    1. I heard that on Hannity tonight, several who had previously been afraid to come forward are now willing to speak with Investigators

      1. @bigsir74 Sounds like this could turn into something big. Then again, Hillary, Benghazi, the IRS…nothing is ever done about corruption and incompetence on the left. That’s why it gets worse and worse and Democrats become more and more brazen about it. They don’t even care any more if it’s obvious because they thought they would be protected (by Hillary).

            1. Its hard to find there weak links because the weak will be taken care of,i.e. James Comey is making more money since being fired than he ever made as the FBI Director.Immediately went on a Book Tour and is the Hero on all the liberal media talk shows.GO figure

              1. @bigsir74 I think it’s very distasteful for the lead of the FBI to leave his job and write books that are politically charged. It further erodes trust in the FBI even though he isn’t there any more. It’s a huge wake-up call that the claim that FBI agents shut out politics while on the job is a farce. Not all of them do.

        1. I realize there was corruption throughout the Government, however those corrupted did not have a leader. When Obama came in with his team of corruptors from Chicago,he immediately took control of the FBI, DOJ and Spy agencies, so here we are.

          1. @bigsir74 They had a leader. They just didn’t have a good one. Obama was corrupt to the core as far as using government as a weapon.

  14. No one ever seems to be held accountable in Washington, but if Barr can make the people with dirty hands break into a cold sweat, it’s worth him scaring the hell out of them.
