BOOM! Dick’s Sporting Goods says its gun business is in the HURT BOX

Well well well. It looks like after the CEO for Dick’s Sporting Goods decided to ban the sale of AR-15s (and guns like it) and raise the minimum age to purchase a gun to 21, their gun sales have been plummeting:

“Our firearms policy changes impacted our hunt business which saw an accelerated decline,” chief financial officer Lee Belitsky told analysts on the company’s conference call. “We expect these businesses to remain under significant pressure throughout the remainder of the year.”

It’s not just guy buyers who are unhappy with Dick’s. Some gun manufacturers don’t want to do business with them either:

And since Dick’s has indeed decided not to sell assault-style weapons, at least for the foreseeable future, it may be hard to go back to gun distributors in the future.

“We don’t have the best relationship with the firearms manufacturers right now,” Belitsky added.

Mossberg & Sons is a gun manufacturer that sold firearms to Dicks, and Belitsky isn’t too sure where the manufacturer might stand on giving Dick’s business. “Mossberg did indicate that they weren’t going to sell us on a direct basis,” Belitsky said.

While the rest of their business seems to be doing well and has even made up for some of the losses in the gun sales, I’m sad to say, it is good to see the gun community has responded to Dick’s ridiculous gun control policies and hurt their gun business. And i hope it continues until they stop selling guns altogether. And I say this as someone who used to frequent Field and Stream. Never again.
