Greg Abbott has just announced that the Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, will begin an investigation into the San Antonio city council for violating the constitutional rights of Chick-fil-A.
Abbott said in his tweet that this action by San Antonio has the “stench of religious discrimination”:

CHRON – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Thursday that he’s launching an investigation into whether the city of San Antonio’s rejection of Chick-fil-A from its airport violates the First Amendment.
Council members last week voted to exclude the business from its list of vendors at the San Antonio International Airport, after some said they couldn’t support it because of its anti-LGBT reputation. The controversial vote sparked media attention nationwide and prompted rebuke from conservatives.
“The Constitution’s protection of religious liberty is somehow even better than Chick-fil-A’s chicken,” Paxton wrote in a letter to San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and the rest of the city council. “Unfortunately, I have serious concerns that both are under assault at the San Antonio airport.”
Not only are they investigating Chick-fil-A themselves, but they are calling on the feds to look into this as well:
Paxton also on Thursday asked Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao to look into whether the city broke any federal law or regulation as a recipient of federal grant funds.
In a letter to Chao, Paxton said the city’s action could violate the free exercise clause of the First Amendment. He added that it could also violate federal statutes and regulations that prohibit discrimination on the basis of creed.
This doesn’t just have the stench of religious discrimination, but also of fascism. Here we have a city government refusing to allow a business to operate all because of the beliefs of their Christian owners.
It’s so hypocritical too. The left won’t allow a Christian bakery to refuse to bake a gay wedding cake. But they will turn around and ban Chick-fil-A from operating in their airport because they are Christian.
Remember when Romney, back in 2011, made the outrageous comment that “corporations are people”? Well it was only outrageous to the left, but it was absolutely true. Corporations and businesses, just like people (because they are people), have rights protected by the Constitution. The left doesn’t consider them people, just like that jerk who was arguing with Romney way back when.
I hope Paxton nails San Antonio to the wall for this and makes them regret that they ever took that fascistic vote.
