BOOM: Judge just ordered Jussie Smollett docs UNSEALED

Finally a judge has just ordered that Jussie Smollett’s criminal case file be unsealed after it was sealed when his case got dismissed:

NBC NEWS – An Illinois judge Thursday ordered Jussie Smollett’s criminal case file be unsealed.

Smollett was accused of filing a false police report claiming he was the victim of a hate crime attack carried out by two men on a city street in January, but less than three weeks after being indicted on 16 felony counts, Chicago prosecutors dropped all charges against the actor.

On the same day the charges were dismissed in late March, Smollett’s defense team requested that the evidence and records in the case be immediately sealed, and the state did not object, according to court documents.

Lawyers for media outlets argued that the sealing of the records “violates the public’s right of access to court records and proceedings” and “the matter has been widely publicized and the defendant and his attorneys have appeared on national television discussing the case,” Thursday’s decision document said.

Smollett’s defense team claims Smollett wants to keep this quiet.

But the judge ain’t buyin’ it:

Meanwhile, Smollett’s lawyers countered that the actor has “the right to be left alone,” and noted that the media had ample time to access the records regarding the case before they were sealed, the document said.

“To be sure, it is easily conceivable that a defendant whose case was dismissed would wish to maintain his sense of privacy, even if, perhaps especially if, the media covered the case,” Judge Steven G. Watkins wrote in the decision. “However, that isn’t that case.”

“While the court appreciates that the defendant was in the public eye before the events that precipitated this case, it was not necessary for him to address this so publicly and to such an extent. By doing so, the court cannot credit his privacy interest as good cause to keep the case records sealed,” the decision said.

Exactly. Smollett went on Good Morning America and did an interview about it where he lied up one side and down the other.

The only reason he wants to keep it private now is to hide the salacious details of how Kim Foxx let him off the hook.

It will be very interesting to see what really happened between Foxx and Smollett…

  1. I wonder how he feels knowing he’s responsible Empire’s getting cut from Fox. I wonder how the actors feel about him now.

  2. The FBI still has said zip about that letter he mailed to himself, with what looked like risin or something similar. They could press terrorism charges on him but his money and who he knows politically [the Obamas] holds sway over doing the right thing it seems.

  3. Not looking good for Kim Foxx and her prosecuting Team.Wonder who took the order from Kim to write the reason[s] for dismissal.

    1. @bigsir74 Kim Foxx’s motive for dismissing the charges was as blatantly obvious as it was intellectually insulting.

      1. Besides Kim,there has to be at least one other who pushed the Button and I believe it was Rahm Emanuel with pressure from his buddy Barack. Both real heavy weights in Chicago. Thanks Conserve.

  4. On one hand, I just do not want to hear about him anymore. And on the other, I want justice to be served.

  5. Hopefully between them the commielib gets disbarred and the bad gay actor has to pay Chicago a lot of money.

  6. Don’t think it so much about the events of the case but the events that led to time served, community service and nothing else

    The Graft is the Root

  8. I hope to see him go to prison, if he was white he would already be there. :facepalmg:

  9. It’s no secret that the reason for sealing Smollet’s records has everything to do with covering up Smollet’s and Foxx’s close association with Barry and Michele Obama and their influence in getting the case dismissed.

  12. “Uh, Judge Watkins; there’s a Barry something or other on the line to speak with you.”

    1. @dr-strangelove Maybe it’s because all of the Obama administration’s FBI senior management have been fired.

  15. I think it’s important that the record gets unsealed so that the concerned citizens of Chicago can unite to find Juicey’s fictional attackers.

    1. Maybe OJ would like a bit of time off from his own all
consuming efforts to find the right killer and he could
advise this liberal flavor of the day on expert detective
techniques. Hell, he might even join in the search.
      Truly, a win/win.

    2. Do you believe anyone in Chicago can get united for any issue before politics goes to work.

  16. His reason for wanting the records sealed is obvious. The state didn’t object because they want to bury their corruption and malfeasance. Basically the prosecution and the defense were working on the same side.

    1. @kong1967 The defense and prosecution were working hand-in-hand to conceal Michele Obama’s interference in the case.

  17. What is stopping this from being undone? He wasn’t tried and didn’t even plea (?). So charge Kimm Foxx with whatever corruption is needed and refile the charges for his false report.

  18. We are all going to be called racist for wanting to know the documents! Thats the card his legal team will play here.

    1. @trev They’ll play the race card, but it will be for naught because no well informed citizen buys the race angle anymore. The left has used the race card so much that it has the inverse affect.
