President Trump is rightly demanding that a federal judge force Twitter reinstate his account after it was insanely and unfairly banned while he was the leader of the free world.
Trump’s request correctly points out that his account was banned under improper pressure from elected Democrats.
From the New York Post:
Twitter “exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate,” the Friday filing read, Bloomberg reported.
Although the ultimate permanent ban was in January, they were effectively silencing him before that.
The filing also claims that Twitter improperly censored his content while he was on the platform by branding his tweets with tags like “misleading information” and other partisan labels.
More, from Bloomberg:
Trump also accused Twitter of inconsistently applying rules for posts about Covid-19, claiming news organizations had falsely claimed that social-justice protests in 2020 weren’t sources of infection while the attack on the Capitol was.
“This outright inconsistency is in line with a desire by defendant to placate government actors who generally approved of the protests of the summer of 2020” and “generally disapproved of the events of January 6,” Trump said.
He is right, they are wrong, and it won’t matter to the press. But this was the right thing to do.
