While people are still debating this controversial case on social media, officials have decided to put on leave the cop that arrested a nurse for doing her job. And another guy too.
Two Salt Lake City police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after shocking video of a nurse’s arrest sparked nationwide outrage.
The Salt Lake City police department announced Friday that it had put Detective Jeff Payne, the officer who arrested Alex Wubbels, plus a second employee, on leave “pending the results of an investigation.” The second employee was not identified, but police spokeswoman Christina Judd confirmed to NBC News on Saturday that he was also a police officer.
I’m seeing a few people defend the police officer and it’s really surprising to me – is it just a reflexive impulse that we have to defend everything police do? They’re just regular people, that means they can make mistakes like the rest of us, and sometimes, you get a bad one. And if you don’t do something about that one, he spoils the reputation for the good ones.
