There was some kind of brawl in the West Virginia statehouse over a poster that tied Rep. Ilhan Omar to the attack on 911!
And someone got hurt and another person resigned over it!!
From Yahoo News:
A poster that linked the US representative Ilhan Omar to 9/11 has resulted in a brawl among legislators in West Virginia, leading to an individual being taken to hospital.
The poster, which was on display at a GOP event in the West Virginia statehouse, depicts the Twin Towers on fire on 11 September with the words “’Never forget’ – you said” written above the building.
Under the image is a picture of Ms Omar with the words “I am the proof you have forgotten”.
Democrats were angry over it and one kicked a door and caused the injury:
Democratic state lawmaker, Mike Caputo, was enraged by the poster and wanted to get into the chamber to protest.
He admitted to kicking the door during an argument about the image and allegedly injured the security guard, who had to be taken to hospital.
“We have created an anger that I have never witnessed in 23 years in this body and it sickens me. It absolutely sickens me. So yeah, I kicked the door open I’ll own it,” Mr Caputo said, according to WSAZ.
And there was a resignation too:
The House’s sergeant-at-arms, Anne Lieberman, was allegedly overheard saying “all Muslims are terrorists,” and resigned over the incident.
While I think it’s reasonable to criticize Islam for encouraging religious violence, I don’t think this is the way to do it. You can’t connect every single Muslim on Earth to 911, and that kind of irrational accusation only sets back honest criticism.
And it gives Ilhan Omar the opportunity to play the victim card:
No wonder why I am on the “Hitlist” of a domestic terrorist and “Assassinate Ilhan Omar” is written on my local gas stations.— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) March 1, 2019
Look no further, the GOP's anti-Muslim display likening me to a terrorist rocks in state capitols and no one is condemning them! https://t.co/0ouCaloWqh
