BREAKING: Seven dead after shooting at Christian elementary school in Nashville [UPDATE: Shooter atteneded school]

At least three students were shot and killed at a Christian elementary school in Nashville.

The shooter was killed by Metro Nashville police officers at the school.

At least four people are dead, including the shooter, following an “active shooter” situation at a school in Green Hills.

The Nashville Fire Department said the incident happened at Covenant School located at 33 Burton Hills Boulevard.

The fire department also said their medics are treating “multiple patients”.

Metro police reported that officers engaged the shooter, who is dead. A spokesperson with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt confirmed to News 2’s Kendall Ashman that three children were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, but have died from their injuries.

Little more is known about the shooting at this point.

 
UPDATE: Two adults are now being reported to have been killed in addition to the three children:

UPDATE: In a press conference police just reported that the shooter was a female, possibly in her teens, armed with “two assault-type rifles” and a handgun.

They also report a total number dead of 7, which includes the shooter.

The shooter was engaged by TWO police officers from a five member team.

UPDATE: Chief of Police in Nashville, John Drake, said that the shooter was a student at the school at some point but he doesn’t know what year or how many years. It was also indicated that shooter was a white female, according to Fox News.
