The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals just reversed a lower court decision which forced ICE to justify their continued detainment of an illegal alien from Mexico arrested in Minneapolis last year.
The ruling was 2-1 (Trump, Bush justices vs Trump justice) and it recognized the jurisdiction of the federal government over immigration. The case was then remanded back down to the district level.
As Kyle Cheney points out, this was a challenge to ICE’s mass detention policy. Score another victory for President Trump.
Here’s the news:
BREAKING: A 2-1 victory for the Trump administration on ICE's mass detention policy at the 8th Circuit Court of appeals (think Minnesota).
While district court judges have overwhelmingly rejected the policy, ICE is 2-0 at the circuit. https://t.co/pOq82zvsSA
