ABC News has just issued a statement responding to O’Keefe’s leaked video of reporter Amy Robach lamenting the fact that she had the Epstein story but ABC News wouldn’t allow it to run.
Here’s the statement:
Here’s ABC’s response to a Project Veritas video of Amy Robach expressing frustration that her Jeffrey Epstein piece didn’t run.
Robach: “I was caught in a private moment of frustration. … In the years since no one ever told me or the team to stop reporting on Jeffrey Epstein” pic.twitter.com/airx3Tjy4o

Below Robach’s statement is a separate statement from ABC News that is hidden by the embed. Here’s what it says:
At the time, not all of our reporting met our standards to air, but we have never stopped investigating the story. Ever since we’ve had a team on this investigation and substantial resources dedicated to it. That work has led to a two-hour documentary and 6-part podcast that will air in the new year.
Ok now watch the video again (the beginning part) of Robach’s leaked video:
That statement is garbage. Robach is clearly upset that ABC News won’t run the story. She says nothing about editorial standards – in fact she says she had the story, had everything and that she tried for three years to get ABC News to run it.
The statement ABC News released is simply to give anyone covering the story the ability to dismiss it as ‘editorial standards’ AND, of course, to cover their own butt because this is so explosive.
Here’s some twitter reaction to the statement:

This is the same line that NBC News used to explain their attempts to kill the Harvey Weinstein story.
Insufficient corroborating evidence should have led to more resources doing more digging given the credible allegations, not simply a decision to kill the story. https://t.co/jKTpEJwtNW

In addition to these statements not actually being responsive to what the initial hot mic claims were, mostly what this shows is that ABC News has indefensibly different standards for, e.g., Kavanaugh allegations or Covington boys then it does Clinton-connected pedophiles. https://t.co/grLZmo7iID

Would like to see some more reporting on what happened here. But these are some serious allegations from the reporter and didn't meet our standards is a PR way of saying standards/legal/higher ups spiked it. https://t.co/0AyZn4gPVS

ABC News: Multiple allegations against pedophile Jeffrey Epstein didn’t meet our standards for air.
Check out these uncorroborated allegations against Kavanaugh in middle of his confirmation.
Also, here’s some Syria war footage that's actually from a KY gun range
